DAY 1
Depart Washington Dulles Airport (IAD)
DAY 2
You will be met at the airport by our representatives, who will assist you with your transfer from the airport to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome drink at the hotel and participate in an orientation session. You’ll meet with dressmakers for fabrics and measurements. After check-in, we’ll participate in a classic chocolate tasting experience and an information session on how to make chocolate from the cocoa bean to the bar. All participants will leave with one box of chocolate, including six flavors. Later in the evening, depart for at a chef’s residence for a private curated dinner. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. (Breakfast, Welcome Dinner)
DAY 3
ACCRA CITY TOUR AND AFRICAN MARKET After breakfast, depart for a sightseeing tour of Accra, the Capital of Ghana. Experience the city’s highlights during this Accra orientation. The capital of Ghana since 1877, Accra is also the capital of the Greater Accra Region. In addition, it’s the country’s most populous city. Travel through the administrative and economic districts of Accra. Also, see the Artiste Alliance Gallery, the W.E.B. Du Bois Center for Pan African Culture, and the Independence/Black Star Square. Learn about important events in Ghana’s history and the country’s first president, who helped lead Ghana to independence. Continue your tour to The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, dedicated to the legacy of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, and his role in African independence. The tour includes visits to Nkrumah’s mausoleum, a museum showcasing his life, his personal residence, the eternal Flame of African Liberation, and beautifully landscaped gardens. Learn about Nkrumah’s early life, political career, and Pan-African vision. End the day’s tour at the Arts Center, where participants can sharpen their bargaining skills to shop for goods from Ghana and West Africa in an open-air market. On display, you will see fabrics of different materials, designs, colours and textures to purchase from. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals included Breakfast.
DAY 4
ACCRA TO KUMASI After breakfast, transfer to the airport for a 40-minute flight to Kumasi. Upon arrival, we’ll explore the legends of the famous Ashantis, whose legacies are still evident today. Firstly, visit Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain firsthand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom. A regal history that dates back to 1700 is told with relics and artefacts. Enjoy a drive through the city with monuments dedicated to the memory of the great Ashanti people. End the day’s tour at the National Cultural Center, which features the Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and various studios of the brass makers, potters, and batik makers. Overnight at Lancaster Hotel Kumasi. Meals included: Breakfast.
DAY 5
ACCRA – NAMING CEREMONY AND ASHANTI CRAFT VILLAGE After breakfast, you will depart your hotel to pay a courtesy call on the chief and elders amidst traditional drumming and dancing at Adawonmase. The group will participate in a naming ceremony of recognition, where a Ghanaian name is given to participants, and a gift presented as part of celebrating a new identity as a Ghanaian and a member of the local community. After lunch on your own, you will visit the three famous Ashanti craft villages: Ahwiaa, the wood carvers’ village, Ntonso, the home of Adinkra cloth, and Bonwire, the Kente weaving village. You will have an opportunity to see how African crafts are made and to buy directly from the artisans who make them. Afterwards, return to your hotel. Overnight at Lancaster Hotel Kumasi. Meals included: Breakfast.
DAY 6
KUMASI – ASSIN MANSO – SLAVE DUNGEON EXPERIENCE (CAPE COAST CASTLE) After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart for Cape Coast. En route, stop at Assin Manso. Visit the site of “Donkor Nsuo”, the former Slave River and market, the final transit point for a large number of enslaved Africans. This is the final resting place for two ancestors whose mortal remains were returned from the USA and Jamaica and re-interred there. Continue to Cape Coast and embark on a tour of the infamous Forts, Castles, and Slave Dungeons of Ghana. History will unfold the story of the slave trade which the impact is still felt beyond the shores of Africa today. Visit the Cape Coast Castle, built by the Swedes in 1653 and later taken over by the British. Here, you would learn about the relationship between the Western slave traders and the African tribes that made the trans-Atlantic slave trade possible. It is an opportunity to be up and close with history – to stand in the dark and stuffy dungeons, imagining the experience and conditions that millions of Africans endured. This castle also houses the West African Historical Museum. Overnight at Elmina Bay Resort. Meals included: Breakfast and Lunch
DAY 7
KAKUM RAINFOREST AND CANOPY WALKWAY – AFTERNOON AT LEISURE After breakfast, depart your hotel and drive through the historic Denkyira Kingdom to Kakum National Park, one of West Africa’s surviving tropical rainforests. Choose between a 2 km nature walk through the rain forest to discover the wide variety of exotic flora and fauna species and the medicinal values they offer, or take a walk on the canopy walkway hanging 40 meters above the forest ground. After lunch on your own, return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Elmina Bay Resort: Breakfast.
DAY 8
CAPE COAST – ACCRA – FAREWELL BONFIRE DINNER After breakfast, check out of your hotel and depart for Accra. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Later in the evening, you will gather around a warm bonfire at Labadi Beach, with the sound of waves crashing nearby and music drifting through the salty air. It’s the perfect way to say farewell to Ghana with a Farewell Dinner, as we bid farewell to Africa and the Ancestors. Overnight at Labadi Beach Hotel. Meals included: Breakfast and Farewell Dinner
DAY 9
DAY AT LEISURE – DEPARTURE Spend the day packing and doing last-minute shopping. At 5 pm, check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for check-in and final departure back home. Meals included: Breakfast.

- A non-refundable deposit of 33% of the per-person rate is due at the time of booking.
- A 2nd non-refundable deposit of 33% of the per-person rate is due by September 30, 2025
- Full and final payment is due by January 8, 2026
- 33% of the package price is nonrefundable if canceled on or before September 29, 2025
- 66% of the package price is nonrefundable if canceled September 30, 2025 – January 7, 2026
- 100% of the package price is non-refundable on/after January 8, 2026
- We must receive your cancellation notice in writing by email, fax, or overnight courier, and your cancellation date will be the date we receive your notice.
- Your decision not to participate in the Tour due to State Department warnings, fear of travel, or the like will be deemed a cancellation. If a flight or another delay for any reason prevents you from joining the Tour on the Tour start date, you will be considered a no-show, and we cannot provide a full or partial refund or credit toward a future Tour, but you may join the Tour late if you wish.

What is included?
Package inclusions vary by trip and are spelled out on your invoice and/or itinerary. Most packages include air transportation, transfers, accommodations, tours and events.
What is not included?
Anything that is not mentioned on the invoice or itinerary is not included in the package. Standard items that are not included are as follows:
- Travelers insurance
- Passport fee processing
- Visa fee and processing, if required
- Items of a personal nature
- Gratuities, unless noted in inclusions
- Baggage handling above the set limits
- Airline baggage fees
- Individual ground transportation
- Meals and beverages not listed on the itinerary
How much money should I take?
While this is a personal choice and based on the destination, we recommend $50 to $100 per person, per day.
Are included tours mandatory? Or Is it mandatory to participate in all of the scheduled/included tours?
No, you do not have to tour with the group. The group package and itinerary are scheduled; however, if you do not want to participate in any land tour on any day, you may opt out. Any tours that you do not join are non-refundable and cannot be used as payment for or credit toward individual tours.
Can I extend my trip?
Yes, you can extend your trip. We will make a request on your behalf, and provide you a quote for the additional services will provided. All additional expenses are your responsibility.
If I do not have a roommate, will you provide one?
We have a “single willing to share” program for registered trip participants. Once you have registered with a deposit, we then put you in contact with other registered “single willing to share” trip participants so that you can explore the possibility of rooming together on the trip.
It’s up to you. If you choose to share a room with another registered trip participant, both of you must let us know.
Are gratuities included?
Gratuities for local tour guides and bus drivers are not included, unless specified on the itinerary. You may tip at your discretion.
Do you offer individual travel services?
Yes. If you would like for us to plan a trip for you, complete the “Plan A Trip” form.
What is the cancellation policy?
General Terms and Conditions are available here. Each group trip has its own payment schedule and cancellation policy. Please review the policy on the trips page. Please note funds cannot be applied to other trips and while name changes may be permitted, funds are non-transferable.
How much luggage can I take?
On our group tours, each person is allowed one carry-on bag and one checked bag. The baggage size and weight restrictions are set by the airline.
Once we arrive at a destination, we travel by motorcoach and your baggage must fit in the bus. In addition, we sometimes travel by domestic flights or train within a country and those carriers might have restrictions on baggage size or weight.
Do I need a passport?
All international trips require a passport. The validity of the passport will vary by destination. However, many destinations require a passport validity is 6 months beyond the date of departure from the country you are visiting.
