Navigating The Airport

Airports are a necessary part of travel for those who are flying and If you’re like most, the airport can be an unpleasant and hectic place, especially if you’re not prepared.

To make the experience less hectic give yourself enough time to do the necessary things, like parking and arriving, yes arriving. Large and busy airports especially during peak periods can have congestion just to drop someone off and parking lots can be far from the terminal.

Checking in and then getting through security are also time consuming, especially if you check a bag and don’t have TSA Precheck. Wear clothes and shoes that come off easily and that you can pack away easily. Make sure all of your toiletries are in a toiletry bag and is easily accessible.

Then there’s the walk to the gate, some airports are so large, it can take 15 minutes or more. Being able to do these things leisurely will take the stress out of the experience.

Invest in comfort. Starting with comfortable clothes that stretch and move with you and good walking shoes. Not tennis shoes, they are too restricting. Shoes that slip off and on easily, are low heeled and soft, so they can expand with your feet. Spring for an airport lounge pass for those long layovers. There’s comfortable seats, snacks, drinks and entertainment inside with little to no extra cost. Make sure you factor in the distance from the lounge to your gate.

Bring an empty water bottle and fill up at the water fountain, unless of course you just must have a $5 bottle of water. And, bring snacks, preferable healthy, but even if they’re not, you’ll save money and time.
